Clear Coat Epoxy Garage Flooring

The standard epoxy used on your flooring is typically a matte or semi-gloss sheen. If you are looking for that premium look you will want to consider a clear epoxy garage floor to go on top of the standard installation. This adds to the durability but also gives it that premium look that you would rarely see in a home garage.

Want to know more or have questions?

The decision to install epoxy in your garage can be confusing at times. There are a variety of different colors as well as you will need to decide if you want color flecks. If you do want color flecks you will then need to decide what color. We can advise in this. Also, you will need to decide whether you want clear coat or not and anti-skid additive. The truth is, with the high gloss finish, when it gets wet it is pretty much like ice so it can be important to add anti slip into the mix. Also, epoxy may not be available for your floors as it needs to be clear of all oil before beginning. Almost always we will have to acid wash your concrete before beginning to ensure proper adhesion of the epoxy to the concrete.

Epoxy Garage Flooring

Epoxy flooring is extremely durable. In truth, it can take a beating. Floors with epoxy are less likely to crack, chip, or scratch. Not only is it impact resistant it is also much more resistant to corrosive compounds. Even salt can dramatically age your concrete.

The color for epoxy flooring has grown substantially over the years. While initially only a few colors were available now most colors are achievable. Including bright red! Turn your concrete floors into something you would see in a show room!

Extremely Stain Resistant

Epoxy flooring is nearly stain proof. Spills are no big deal. We had a client whose child used permanent marker all over their new floor. No worries, epoxy is resistant to even the most harsh of cleaners. With his epoxy flooring, our client was able to literally wash the "permanent" marker right off his real permanent floor.

Recent 2-car garage install

We recently did an epoxy flooring for this 2-car garage. Their concrete had endured years of oil seeping into their concrete from an old car leaking and their son changing his oil and spilling various times. Needless to say, their concrete was a disaster. Not only that, the smells was overwhelming. We weren't certain we would be able to get a good surface with the abuse the concrete had seen.

As you can see, after a good, long power wash and 2 concrete etches we were able to get the surface prepped enough to accept the epoxy. After we got the epoxy on the client was so excited they put on a fresh coat of paint. The results you see here are after 8 months of steady use and various oil spills. Epoxy flooring is the clear choice when it comes to not only protecting your garage but alse rejuvinating it as well!

damaged concrete

A major reason to get epoxy flooring

Many people feel that their concrete will last for decades. It just may. However, here in Utah with the weather comes corrosion. The more your concrete is exposed to salt, snow, water, etc the faster it will age. Cracks can be fixed up to a point but after that it will become necessary to replace the whole slab, which is extremely expensive. Epoxy flooring lasts years and when it starts to wear off, simply add a new coat. It's chemical structure seals the concrete allowing it to further resist cracking and the elements.

Epoxy flooring works on a cellular level. The resin and hardener are unstable compounds that once combined bond so strongly to each other, it is extremely difficult to get them to bond to anything else. For this reason most corrosives and stains don't set it. They will literally bead on top of the surface and you can wipe them up when is convenient.
